Modern Psychotherapies: A Comprehensive Christian AppraisalBooks: Text Books: Psychotherapy: Item 4

(Taneytown, MD United States) - Jones and Butman have produced the standard classroom text for overviewing major theories of psychotherapy from a Christian perspective. Those expecting a "psychology-bashing" text will be disappointed, for this is not the intent of the authors. That is not to say that they agree with the views they outline. Rather, after a fair and balanced summary of each major modern psychotherapy approach, they then examine them in light of biblical theology and Christian psychology. A must read as an introduction to the field from an academic Christian perspective. Reviewer: Bob Kellemen, Ph.D., is the author of "Soul Physicians," "Spiritual Friends," "Biblical Psychology," "Martin Luther's Counseling," and the forthcoming "Beyond the Suffering: The History of African American Soul Care and Spiritual Direction." |
