Gillis "loachimus" (baltimore) - I bought this book thinking that it would provide details of how to go about starting the real estate investing progress. As other reviewer's have noted, this book does have a strong "cheerleading" tone to it without providing much specific information. I am interested in buying a house or two to fix up and sell, not quit my job and start this full time. I found the tactics they mentioned to be downright predatory; for example, getting mail carriers and landscapers to "scope out" neighborhoods to see which homes are receiving lots of certified mail, a sure sign that they might be in financial trouble. There are slick sales scripts that would befit any sleazy used car dealer. They are little verbal sales tricks to get people to trust you; making them feel like it's them against the big bad bankers and that only you can help. It is all under the guise that you are helping people with their financial troubles, when really it's more like a vulture looking for an opportunity. There is no way I am going door to door inquiring about a lost dog just so I can try to start a conversation with someone aabout their personal financial situation in an attempt to buy their house out from under them. This is a book for a good,fast sales person with big ambitions, not just your average homeowner or small time investor.
