Product Review
The Case for Christ records Lee Strobel's attempt to "determine if there's credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God." The book consists primarily of interviews between Strobel (a former legal editor at the Chicago Tribune) and biblical scholars such as Bruce Metzger. Each interview is based on a simple question, concerning historical evidence (for example, "Can the biographies of Jesus Be Trusted?"), scientific evidence, ("Does archaeology Confirm or Contradict Jesus' Biographies?"), and "psychiatric evidence" ("Was Jesus Crazy When He Claimed to Be the Son of God?"). Together, these interviews compose a case brief defending Jesus' divinity, and urging readers to reach a verdict of their own.

If you were a journalist, how would you handle a news story so big it would utterly eclipse all other world events? How thorough would your investigation be? How many hard-hitting questions would you ask? How carefully would you consult with top experts to get detailed, accurate answers? Lee Strobel knows firsthand. It was as an award-winning reporter for the Chicago Tribune and an avowed atheist that he first investigated the greatest news story of allthe Gospel of Jesus Christ. Now, in The Case for Christ, he presents compelling evidence and expert testimony for the claims of Christianity. As a seasoned journalist with a Yale law background, Strobel systematically tracks down his leads and asks the blunt, tough questions you would want to askquestions that can make or break the Christian faith. He refuses contrived, simplistic answers. Instead, he pieces together hard facts through interviews with a dozen of the countrys top scholars. Written in the style of a blockbuster investigative report, The Case for Christ is a provocative and spellbinding read, marshaling expert testimony and persuasive evidence. With unerring instincts, Strobel ferrets out: ? Historical Evidence: Do we possess reliable documents concerning the life, teachings, and resurrection of Jesus? ? Scientific Evidence: Is there archaeological substantiation for the historical accounts about Jesus? Did Jesus perform miracles? ? Psychiatric Evidence: Did Jesus really claim to be God? What evidence is there that he fit Gods profile? ? Fingerprint Evidence: What does prophecy have to say about Jesus? ? Other Evidence: Jesus death, the missing body, eyewitness accounts, and claims of personal encounters. The Case for Christ reads like a captivating, fast-paced novel. But its not fiction. Its a riveting journey to the truth about the most remarkable event in history: the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And its a revealing, personal testimony to his power to transform people yet todayeven the most case-hardened, cynical journalist. Also available on audio cassette. Lee Strobel, with a Master of Studies in Law degree from Yale Law School, was an award-winning journalist for thirteen years at the Chicago Tribune and other newspapers. He was a spiritual skeptic until 1981. Today he serves as teaching pastor at Willow Creek Community Church in suburban Chicago. He is the best-selling author of Inside the Mind of Unchurched Harry and Mary, What Jesus Would Say, and Gods Outrageous Claims. Lee and his wife, Leslie, are parents of two college students and live in West Dundee, Illinois. Also available on audio cassette

Book Description
' I'll be recommending that students buy this text and teaching from it extensively over the course of the module. This is an excellent text by a concise, clear and important British scholar which will help introduce students to the opportuntities they have to study contemporary life meaningfully.' - Dr Stuart Robertson, University of Central England 'An inspirational take on cultural studies - past, present and future. It is both a student text and considerably more than that. It is written with admirable clarity, but so too with fire, passion and much good sense' - Bill Schwarz, Queen Mary, University of London 'This is an important book. It will be the first textbook in cultural studies that does what a truly useful textbook is supposed to do - in the very act of summarizing and representing the field, it recreates it anew and moves it further along' - Lawrence Grossberg, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill 'This is one of the most useful textbooks in a long time' - Mich[gr]ele Barrett, Queen Mary, University of London Students of cultural studies frequently struggle with the subject's primary texts. For example, the work of Hall, Bhabha and Butler can be complex. Having grappled with these texts however, the student is then confronted with having to apply these insights to their own areas of study. The heart of this book comprises a series of extended critical chapters on six of the foundational theorists of cultural studies - Hall, Bhabha, Butler, Gilroy, Bourdieu and Jameson. By looking at the key themes and central dynamics of these writers work, Angela McRobbie introduces their work and their contribution. Alongside these chapters, McRobbie has added six shorter essays which demonstrate how one might actually do cultural studies using insights from these six key theorists. Aimed at students of cultural studies this book offers an introduction to both the theory and practice of cultural studies. It also provides readers with an opportunity to regard Angela McRobbie 'in dialogue' with six of today's leading cultural studies theorists. As such it will be eagerly welcomed by all students of media and cultural theory.

Book Description
Book six of the Ethnographer's Toolkit series discusses the special requirements that doing ethnographic research imposes on its practitioners. The authors first describe how the work of researchers is inextricably tied to their personal qualities, the social and cultural context of the research site, and the tasks and responsibilities that ethnographers assume in the field. The book then examines how qualitative researchers assemble research teams, establish partnerships with individuals and institutions in the field, and work collaboratively with a wide range of people and organizations to solve mutually identified problems. The book has a strong focus on the ethical components of doing research, and on the importance of collaboration and action-based research strategies. The authors also offer multiple strategies for working with institutional Review boards (IRBs).
