I've used it for years, both for myself and in classes, and it has never failed me. What makes this book so terrific? Four factors: First, the information about grammar and usage is absolutely mainstream, quite consistent with the majority of other important references (The Chicago Manual of Style, for one). Second, it is accurate and reliable. Third, the outstanding index makes the book wonderfully easy to use; you can look something up, in everyday terms, and readily find a rerence. Fourth, the rules are short and the examples clear; once you've found the rule you need, you can read it, grasp it, and 30 seconds later be on your way. As a full-time trainer of writers and editors, I have used Gregg with every population from grammar-challenged support staff to experienced editors and highly educated professionals. In some classes, I have also used the optional worksheets (available separately). I find that Gregg works well for both native and non-native speakers of English. I can't recommend Gregg highly enough.

    Book Description
The Gregg Reference Manual, 10/e, by Sabin is intended for anyone who writes, edits, or prepares material for distribution or publication. For nearly fifty years, this manual has been recognized as the best style manual for business professionals and for students who want to master the on-the-job standards of business professionals. GRM provides answers that can't be found in comparable manuals. That probably explains why GRM has received so many unsolicited 5-star Reviews on the Amazon Web site. Those 5-star Reviews offer a clear indication of the reputation GRM enjoys in the marketplace.
